CSP of Ust-Luga has purchased an RMG crane with a lifting capacity of 50 tons
Terminal Yug-2 of the Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga has received a new rail mounted gantry with a lifting capacity of 50 tons. The cost of equipment amounted to 4 million euros.
This RMG crane was manufactured by Baltic Cranes Industry in Lithuania and brought unassembled to the terminal Yug-2 by a special vessel. To offload elements of the crane to the dock, LIEBHERR mobile cranes owned by CSP of Ust-Luga were used. Assembly operations have been planned to be implemented within six months. Putting into service is scheduled for September 2018.
The new equipment is designed to handle general cargo and containers and allows working with 150 railway cars simultaneously. The crane is fitted with innovative lifting equipment providing for uninterrupted and efficient lifting work: a spreader for handling containers, a hook assembly with a lifting capacity of 50 tons and a magnet for handling steel: plate slabs, sheet steel. To ensure the effectiveness of the workflow, the gantry is fitted with specialized positioning devices.
During 2018, the fleet of cargo handling equipment of the port of Ust-Luga has considerably increased. Thus, the following machines were purchased and put into operation in the first half of the year: Case wheel loaders – 5 units, Samson Quarcon ship-loading machines – 2 units, Sennebogen cranes – 3 units, Case tracked bulldozers – 2 units. In the near future, LIEBHERR fully mobile rubber-tyred crane is expected to arrive; the supply contract was signed in April during the business program of TransRussia International Exhibition.
